Toy Factory

Toy Factory has been an enjoyable part of the Northeastern Woodworkers Association's annual Showcase woodworker's show for about 20 years. It is intended to get kids interested in doing hands-on activities and promote woodworking with the hopes it will inspire them to learn more. Click here to learn more about Showcase.

Our Mid-Hudson Woodworkers chapter created the Toy Factory for Showcase, which is held each March in Saratoga Springs. We create components for a variety of toys (cars, boats, totes, bird houses, planes, helicopters, etc.) that children can assemble with our assistance and take home for free. The Toy Factory is run by our member volunteers who create the parts and/or attend Showcase to help children assemble toys. It is so rewarding to work with the kids and see their smiles when they take their toys home with them.

Volunteer

Volunteers are needed for the 2024 Showcase (March 23 & 24). We need help building toys, but we especially need help manning our tables at the show in Saratoga Springs. Whether you come for a few hours, a day or the weekend, we can really use your help. If you want to go deep, join our Toy Factory committee and help manage Toy Factory. We will give you all the help you need to contribute to our success. Please help!

To volunteer for Toy Factory CLICK HERE to go to our online signup form.
Select the time(s) you want to volunteer for and provide your name, phone and email.

Our Toy Factory committee members are Andy Moss, Rich Cerutto, Martin McNally. Feel free to contact one of us if you have questions. You can send an email to info@midhudsonwoodworkers.org for contact information.

Volunteer tasks include:

  • Unload our truck and set up the Toy Factory on Friday, March 22nd (approximately 9:00 am to 5:00 pm) You can help for as many hours as you are available.
  • Work with the kids during the show. We have five tables, so we need volunteers for each time slot at each table (10:00 - 12:30, 12:30 - 3:00, 3:00 - 5:00). Work for Toy Factory and while there see the show or sit in on a seminar. Volunteers get free admission to the show!
  • Breakdown our Toy Factory on Sunday from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
